For first time purchasers, the yacht buying process can seem a daunting process. Every client we work with gets a personal and bespoke service. Once we know your requirements we hand-pick a team of professionals to personally work on finding, or building, your perfect yacht.
Once the process is underway, Stanton Land and Sea becomes the interface between you and the seller or the shipyard, to ensure the process goes smoothly.
COMMISSION A NEW YACHT
Creating your own yacht is an ambitious and exciting project, and affords the owner prestige and exclusivity in a crowded marina.
There are a number of ways to commission your new yacht, and you should think about the level of customization you would like. Yacht commissions include production yachts, semi-customised yachts, yacht conversions, and full custom yacht build.
PURCHASE
Full customization is the ultimate in luxury yachting. You dream it, they build it. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, our team of experts will help to realize your vision whatever your ambition, specific needs, or requests, we can make it happen.
This is very much a step-by-step process, but it all starts with you and your family. Then milestone by milestone, you watch your vessel come to life.
How can Stanton Land and Sea help?
Stanton Land and Sea has worked with design houses in Italy, Holland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. All bringing their own quintessential nuances to the table, and we will guide you to the one that we feel best suits the delivery of your vision.
A team of experts will be hand-picked to suit your individual project.
If you want to personalize your yacht a little, without going full-custom, a semi-customized yacht might be for you.
We work with shipyards that have existing running hulls with superstructures but allow the client more flexibility for customization. Construction material is normally metal, and the yachts are more than 30m in length.
How can Stanton Land and Sea help?
As we gather your requirements for a yacht we will develop an understanding on the level of customization that you need, and be able to recommend suitable shipyards. We will expertly guide you through the whole process of customising your yacht, from engines to cabins, and how to spec your decks and flybridge to suit the activities you are envisioning.
We strongly recommend including a surveyor to your team and you may wish to consider an interior designer. A project manager may be required depending on the size of the yacht.
For many yacht owners, this is their entry point into the world of yachting. The exterior and interior design of the yacht is fixed, leaving the client to make a few light cosmetic changes to suit their taste. These changes are generally soft furnishings, furniture, and some changes to flybridge layout and equipment.
Often a yard will be building ‘on spec’ meaning that they could have stock ready to go. The advantages of a production yacht are that we could find a new yacht with warranty that is ready to go for the season, or with faster new-build times.
How can Stanton Land and Sea help?
We have spent many years involved in the yacht business, dealing with boat yards and dealers. This means we know how the yards operate, and can negotiate the best deal for you while also telling you what clauses to put in the contract, and what to expect on delivery and hand-over of your new yacht.
You don’t need a big team to purchase a production yacht. The yacht dealer generally looks after most of the aspects and Stanton Land and Sea will be present at each milestone to make sure your yacht is delivered to your expectations.
We strongly advise to include a lawyer in the team, but a buyers surveyor is at your discretion and dependent on the yard chosen. If your yacht is over 24m you will need yacht and crew management.
Converting an existing vessel is an exciting trend that is rapidly becoming a very viable option for clients who enjoy the thrill of making something new without starting from scratch.
This approach requires ambition and attention to detail, to take a donor vessel which may look nothing like a luxury yacht, and convert it into the client’s vision.
How can Stanton Land and Sea help?
Once we understand your requirements, we will begin a search for a suitable donor vessel. These are often former support vessels for the shipping and offshore industries. Once purchased, the vessel is taken to a yard for full conversion and refit.
Donor vessels with a running seaworthy hull mean reduced costs, and some clients may even enjoy a profit when the yacht is sold.
Our team will support you throughout the entire process, from design and specification, materials, through to crewing and yacht management.
Conversions require a larger, more specialist team, including a lawyer, naval architect, exterior and interior designers, and full project management.
Selling your yacht
At some point you will want to sell or replace your existing vessel. Stanton Land and Sea offers full yacht brokerage services.
To maximize your returns when selling your yacht it is vital to present the vessel in the best possible way, with a broker that knows the vessel and can help potential purchasers by answering their questions.
We recognize that our ethos of being discreet does not fit well with the bold marketing needed to put your vessel in front of a worldwide audience. Therefore, we align ourselves with a couple of strategic partners on a solely Central Exclusive agency agreement, meaning that you get a dedicated partner who specializes in used yacht marketing. This ensures that our clients are ringfenced and confidentiality is assured.
